Setting Up a Vastu-Compliant Home Office

A home office rarely gets to pick its own room — it's usually whatever corner, spare room, or shared space was available. That's fine. Most of what matters is adjustable within almost any room.
Desk direction
Facing east or north while working is traditionally favoured for focus and clarity. If your room's layout doesn't allow this directly, even a diagonal orientation toward one of these directions is a reasonable compromise.
What's behind you
A solid wall behind your chair is traditionally preferred over an open door or window — it's associated with a sense of support while working. If you're on video calls often, this also happens to be good general advice.
Keep the north-east light
Where possible, keep the north-east corner of the room relatively open and uncluttered — avoid using it as your primary storage or filing zone.
A cluttered north-east corner is one of the most common, most fixable issues we see in home offices.
If focus and productivity are a specific, ongoing concern rather than a general setup question, our Career & Productivity consultation goes deeper than a general guide can.
