5 Vastu Principles Every First-Time Homebuyer Should Know

Buying your first home comes with enough decisions already — Vastu doesn't need to add fifty more. Most of what matters can be checked with five questions, in roughly this order of importance.

1. Which direction does the main entrance face?

The main entrance is usually the single highest-weight factor in a Vastu reading, because it sets the direction everything else is measured against. North and east-facing entrances are traditionally favoured, but a south or west entrance isn't automatically disqualifying — it simply changes what else needs attention.

2. Where does the kitchen sit relative to the entrance?

The kitchen represents the fire element, and its position relative to water points (bathrooms, main water line) and the entrance matters more than most buyers expect. South-east is the traditionally favoured zone for a kitchen.

3. Is the plot or unit shape regular?

4. Where's the master bedroom?

South-west is the traditionally favoured zone for the primary bedroom — associated with stability. This is one of the easier things to check on a floor plan before you buy.

5. What's actually fixable after you move in?

This is the most important question of all. Most Vastu concerns in an already-built home are addressable without structural change — colour, placement, and object-level remedies go further than most buyers assume. A regrettable entrance direction is harder to fix than almost anything else, which is exactly why it's worth checking first.
